Guatemala City is the largest city in Central America and the capital of Guatemala.

The city sits at an elevation of about 1,500 meters, experiencing a mild climate with a rainy season from May to October. Zona 1 is the historical center, home to landmarks such as the National Palace and the Metropolitan Cathedral.

Zona 10, known as Zona Viva, contains most of the city’s hotels and restaurants. Traffic congestion is common midday, so plan accordingly if visiting museums like the Popol Vuh Museum or the Museo Ixchel.
